These are some of my favorite artists! There’s so many here – too many to list, but let’s look at just a few:
Stepponwolf – It’s like “Walkin’ on Sunshine,” but instead you step on wolf.
The Games Gang – I love this. Each member of the Games Gang has their own particular specialty. They’re all feared across the west, but no one more so than Sudoku Pete.
The Jethro Toll – what you pay to drive though Alabama?
Plus, the excess of articles is amazing. I never knew there was more than one Uriah Heap, ELO, Bob Seger, or Johnny Winters, requiring him to specify that he sings THE Uriah Heap, etc.
Also, since he’s threatening to change his mind to either a) form a one man band or b) quit music and buy a motorcycle, does that mean the most likely outcome is that the two will just average out and he’ll stick with his current plan of trying to persuade the guard to let him have something sharper than a crayon to write with?
Thanks, Prunella!
:snerk: Sudoku Pete hehehe.
Okay folks, I’ll be back tomorrow. Dan done got all my funny.
Ditto the Dan part.
I do “The Occasional Comma.” Perhaps you should, too, Sparky McMusicPants.
I love the Capitals. They had some great number one hits.
I think he would benefit from attending Schoolhouse Rock.
No, no you’re not.
Sparky should find a band that does the Dunning Kruger.
Well, at least we know he can do Slash.
Yuck! Must’ve been that last call 2AM decision…
Ah, Johnny Winters. I loved him in Mork and Mindy.
It’s 9pmeveryday
The Craiglist ads trickle in
There’s an old man who can sing it all
From Doors to Smokie Robinson
He says, “Son, I can sing eveything
I’m not really sure, I may go.”
But it’s bad how it’s spelt and I knew I might melt
When I saw aoldchick on amotercycleand.
La la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dumb
Sing us a song, you’re Bruno man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we’re all in the mood for a musici
And you’ve got to buddylovethat
After the phone number #s, it says “am to 9pm” without a time. Is that Sparky’s error or [redacted]?
I don’t know, but I sure hope that is not his availability to, ahem, perform. He’ll only get jobs at the senior center.
I know this guy can’t be any good, ’cause he doesn’t even mention The Johnny Rivers. Yeah, that’s how I know he sucks.
“till i get aoldchick to singto me till idie” Why would this be appealing to anyone?
I nomimate Yoko Ono.
I am the uriah heap.
They are the jethro toll.
I am the walrus.
goo goo whata boob
Oh yeah?
Where’s mah buckit?
We had that posted in our lab for a little while when they took all of our blue buckets away from us. Eventually, a single blue bucket returned when it became apparent that I needed it to do my job.
Did they even have motown music in the 60o’s?
Yes, but it had less R&B and more human sacrifice.
Hee hee…now that is a performance!
Less R&B and more BDS&M?
You wish.
Yeah, cuz S&M in the Dark Ages must have been INTENSE!!!!
According to my ancient relative, Hamquis de Can, it was…
Sort of, but it was done as a plain chant. oO okay, having trouble imagining that one.
I had to actually do it to see what it would sound like. It was odd.
My honey will never forgive me for singing one of his favorite Irish songs, Foggy Dew, as a rap song. The kids loved it, and it worked.
And this is why we should fund the arts in school. If Bruno could have studied music in school, he may have stayed past the third grade.
We have a Crowded Box today!
Isn’t Crowded Box IF’s Crowded House/L’il Kim mashup band?
I thought Crowded Box was IF’s Hole cover band.
Sparky must have misplaced his MIDI.
Awww…for cute!
Yes, I want to be trapped in a practice room/ band van/ dressing room/ recording studio with you for hours at a time, Mr RunOnSentence! Please call me!
Think I might give this guy a call. I am dying to hear what Motown in the 600s sounds like.
Gregorian chant, with soul?
M’mckmac or Huron, one supposes. Could be Cree or Blackfoot, too.
Probably less brass in the rhythm section; but, a lot more synchronized dance moves by the chorus–the burning in the fires part to the ululation of the women might be an interesting contrapoint.
Tonight on History Channel: The Real Story Behind Motown
LoL. The “state shaped like a hand” has a lot of history, and well before knees-bent-advanicing-silly-French-types started applying French spelling and alliteration to AmerInd placenames and the like.
Still some debate about how/whether “sioux” is actually a French alliteration of a Blackfoot word for “slave.”
I’m guessing, since it was mostly recorded on 45’s, it would sound like the chipmunks.
“…singer/bruno/available”
I didn’t know Sacha Baron Cohen could sing.
Hmm, re-reading that last line seems to suggest, that despite wanting to retire with an aol-chick, that Sparky-bob wants to “buddy love” a putative bruno of some sort.
Which really makes me hope Sparky-bobby’s real name (not stage not CL) is Uncas, and he’s for the council fires tres tuit suite.
*blink*
what the….?
It’s like you just said that through a cyber Fisher-Price The Farmer Says…
l’agriculteur déclare:
“Burn Sparky, Burn!
¡¡¡’bobby blue s buddylovethat bruno’ Brûler Immédiatement!!!
¡¡¡Femmes, à vos feux Conseil!!!”
Since Bruno-Bob does Stepponwolf we need to get him together with Butterman, and they can go on a magic carpet ride.
Heh. I’m seeing “Butterman” as a super hero. Standing with his cape flapping in the breeze and his hands on his hips and his huge belly hanging over the top of his tights. And the whole damned outfit is yellow. Including his yellow hooker boots. And he’s wearing a lunch lady hair net. You know, to be sanitary. With the butter. And the stuff he’s buttering.
I’m making myself feel kind of whoopsy.
That’s udderly ridiculous, you are making my stomach churn.
:heroic music plays:
It’s the Amazing Adventures of Butterman!
:Butterman flies into frame and attempts to land but slips, skidding out of frame:
:CRASH!:
Butterman – :talking loudly over the screams of bystanders: “Just rub some butter on it, butter makes everything better!”
It’s a curd, it’s a pat…it’s Butter Man!
With his artery plaque vision, he takes on his arch enemy Olestra girl…
*sigh*
I had a beloved grade school teacher named Mrs. Butterman. Now my memories are warped with that imagery. Why, Monkey, why?
We do that a LOT. You’ll get used to it, or go insane.
Or both.
In Russia musici very good writes you.
When I saw that word all I could think was how russian it sounded.
And are you serious, you all don’t think Motown existed in the ’60s? My Dad listened to two types of music in the ’60s – Motown and the Philadelphia sound.
In the “60’s” (presumably the 1960’s), assuredly.
In the 600’s though, the 7th Century, Detroit, Michigan was a different sort of place, culturally and musically (and significantly less-well known for turning out motorized vehicles).
Ah, I missed the second reference in all that overlisting, I only saw the one in the header…
Everything makes so much more sense now 🙂
Thanx, Capn
I’m gonna blame it on all the crazy snow up here, couldn’t see the 60os over the snow berm. Ya that’s what I’m gonna do…
Pyrotechnics: yer doin’ it wrong.
LL, Hammy, ghostie, camille, please share this around evenly. Punchity Punch Punch!
Good Morning, San Francisco!
*punches Hammy* Pass it on.
