RARE Vintage Albertsons Albertson’s Plastic Bakery Bread Bag – $20
RARE vintage Albertsons Albertson’s plastic bakery bread freezer bag. Roughly 4″ x 12″. Used condition. I could not find another one anywhere on the Internet. These were meant to be thrown away, so to find one is rare. See pictures for condition and style.
Hey Sparky, I’ve got a tip for you: “meant to be thrown away” means “meant to be thrown away.”
Just so you know.
Thanks for the post, OMV!
Used toilet paper! $5 per sheet. These were meant to be thrown away. I wouldn’t go there searching on the Internet.
This might actually be a legit “old thing”–trading the bottom text, it practically apologizes for being a bread bag, and even suggests other uses so that it does not seem wasteful. The logo does appear to predatee when the Skags Pharmacy group bought the grocery chain, too.
So, this could be a bit of collectable history.
Which suggest it ought to be on a site where collectors of unique items go in search of same. Often bidding and out bidding each other for the privilege of owning the collectable. An auction site. Not a site for flogging off used washing machines.

Well, I’ve got a vintage bag from Albertson’s,
Meant to be thrown away.
I’d like to get a lot of bucks for it.
Now why’d you call me cray?
Perfect for picking up all the Crap in your life!
There’s a verrrrrrrrrrry good reason you couldn’t find one Sparky.
Three guesses to what it is, and the first two don’t count.
Wait…is that an artisanal, free-range bread, BPA-free wrapper?
Yes, I’ve seen cases of people who collect vintage items like this….on the show “HOARDERS”. Let’s organize an intervention for Sparky. And you can’t find these on the interwebnet because they’re all in our grandparents’ attics !!!!
Guess #1: Because the internets have gone green and plastic bags just clog up the intertubes?
Guess #2: Because internet hoodlums take all of the plastic bags and blow them up and pop them to scare unsuspecting web surfing dudes?
Guess #3: Because plastic bread bags were never meant to be used as freezer bags because they are susceptible to cold and that is why they are extinct?
I’m pretty surprised sparky made it this long. This vintage plastic bag is clearly NOT labeled with the “Do Not Place Bag Over Head!” warning.
Really, back in the day how did we ever manage to survive without those warnings?
“Coffee is hot, don’t pour it in your lap, cape does not allow user to fly, don’t try jumping off the roof, plastic bags can cause suffocation, don’t place over head, material is not flame retardant, don’t light your pajamas on fire.”
I’m sure there are lots more we could add, any ideas?
“Do not iron clothes while wearing them.”
Do not attempt to trim hedges with lawn mower. (for real!!!)
Do not attempt to stop chainsaw with hands or genitals.
From a Hallmark ornament box: “For decorative use only.”
I think that might be my old lunch bag I used to use when I was a kid. That is until I got that tin peanut butter bucket to use. Ah, the things you remember from 2nd grade. Too bad I can’t remember what I had for dinner last night.
This is not a pure bread bag. It is a mutt(?) It has a little freezer and a little vegetable in it. So it wont be allowed to compete in the National Bread Bag Show.
Okay Sparky, I’ll throw it away for you, but you’ll have to pay me the $20.
He likes bread and butter.
He likes toast and jam.
But he aint got no more bread,
and I don’t give a damn.
There, fixed it for you.
I used to have an old bag, but her husband came and got her.
I asked her if she wanted to go get bread at Albertson’s and she slapped me.
This was before bread could be sold sliced. Albertson’s was just loafing in those days.
I’m good at loafing.
Ralph and NoJazzy, your box days are over. Hit the road, and don’t come back until you find a Ralph’s vintage bread bag. Punchity Punch Punch!
Good Morning, Hoarders Road Show!
James James
Albertsons Albertson’s Oven Fresh Bakery
Took great
Care of its plastic
Though it would be debris.
James James said to his mother,
“Mother,” he said, said he;
“You must never discard
in the front or back yard,
A bag for YSAC.
It’s more of a Why sack, don’t you think?
Don’t be a whysacre, Windy.
I thought YSAC Acre is where we bury all the bodies.
Only when we run out of room in the loft.
But is it artisanal? Locally sourced?
Free Range?
Sure, I’ll take your Free Range….have a Free Freezer?
I dunno… With all this talk of California outlawing plastic bags entirely, Sparky could have himself a rare commodity here.
/sarcasm, of course.
So where does this fall in our currency? Is it higher than vintage Crisco? Apparently it’s much more rare, so it must be.
