YSaC, Vol. 1688: W-O-L, that spells Owl
Retro knitted Owl wall hanging antique – $10
Retro knitted Owl wall hanging. This is at least 30 years old and in fantastic condition! It will make a great addition to your wall!
This will make a great addition to my wall in the sense that if I am building a wall, and I drop this into the cement mixer so that it becomes physically embedded deep in the wall where I never have to see it again, that would be great.
Thanks for the post, Debra
Who? Who? Who ate my soul?
Obligatory “Who is on First” reference.
I had to make this macramé owl in crafts class in the seventies, and my parents oohed and aahed over it for a little bit and then threw it into a drawer. Now that they’re selling the house and I have to clean it out, I’m hoping to make a quick buck.
P.S. Retro Knitted Owl is my Byrds/Slipknot mashup band.
I think what this really needs is to be bedazzled!
*jazz hands*
….sorry I’m late….you called?
Show me your hands! In that non – creepy way I love about you.
This is tame compared to other 70’s interior desecrations.
I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK, I made this owl using macramé
Owl see you that 70’s macrame and raise you this clown picture on black velvet.
Harry missed Hedwig a lot, but he really should have let Hermione handle that spell.
This post won’t draw quite the attention it should. The product is described perfectly, the picture is taken with good lighting, there’s no reflect-o-porn, and the item is staged in exactly the correct context instead of lying on the dirty, cluttered garage floor. The one flaw in the post is the description of cost. The person stated $10, but didn’t clarify that s/he is paying you the money to take it off their hands instead of charging. What you do with the wall hanging is entirely up to you; the poster suggests you hang it as shown, but whether you do or not the $10 is still yours.
Me, I wouldn’t take this particular item because the $10 the reverse seller is offering because with gas prices these days, I’d pay more collecting it than I’d receive for unburdening the person of it. Unless of course we’re talking $10 relative to the value of the dollar in the ’70s but adjusted for inflation relative to the ’10s. Then maybe we’d have a deal.
At least the seller was kind enough to tell us it’s an owl. I never would have figured that out on my own.
Owl see who you did there.
“It will make a great addition to your wall!”
A frayed knot.
I’m tying myself in knots trying to think of something funny to say about macramé.
Aye, ’tis a knotty problem.
you mean…
You should quit while you’re behind.
If at first you don’t succeed, sell it on craigslist. I think this is a Shabby Chick that grew up.
Macramé.
How I wish this owl were far away.
Maybe soon it will be gone to stay.
Oh, how I loathe owl macramé!
Possibly,
Craiglist readers will respond to me.
Just $10 and I’ll be set free
From macramé of the Seventies!
Why this owl should be so ugly, I couldn’t say.
It reminds me why I don’t long for macramé-ay-ay-ay.
Macramé.
Buy this owl and you will make my day.
All my treasure you can take away
If you’ll just purchase macramé.
Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm
Retro Owl is the name of my hipster bar. Owl we serve is PBR.
“Owl be home for Christmas…if only in my screams…..”
I had one of these as a child in the 1970’s. I think my crazy aunt made it for me.
(disclaimer: not crazy in a “we had her locked away and can only visit on holidays” kid of way. More of an eccentric, wacky, fun kind of crazy. Not that I have an issue with anyone who has been committed. Or should be committed. Or is currently blogging from inside an institution. Actually, if you have wifi and three meals a day, I might join you. This whole work-for-money set up we’ve got going is not working for me. What about “will snark for food”. I think that model would work better. Provided, of course, the food is local, organic, vegetarian, healthy, and you also cook it for me.)
Hi Lurk…glad you don’t place unreasonably high expectations on your friends…(you don’t have a lot of friends, do you?)….Well, you’ve come to the right place….
Psst, Jazzie: go read this edition of YSaC. We’ll wait.

Ah, yes Windy…I DO remember that hilarious post….and the commentors….it WAS like looking at my old high school annual and straining to remember who was who. (Even those who were in Who’s Who)
LRC!!! I’m so glad you showed up! I hope you haven’t washed your poncho yet, we need a fresh infusion of lice.
*sings “Still Crazy After All These Years”*
Oh dear, I made one of these back in the 70s as a present for the Eyebrows parents. When going through their things after Papa Eyebrows passed, I found it. It now hangs on my deck out by the pool. Scares away the frogs. Really.
Ah, but macrame owls are so ‘de rigueur’ right now… Exhibit A:
